NOVEMBER
2002 NEWS FROM CITY HALL
Budget 2003
Following the Council-approved Budget Directions (July 24th ) and
the Long-Range Financial Plan – First Steps (Oct. 23rd ), staff
has now tabled its Budget proposals for the coming year. As usual,
I have scheduled an information evening on the topic. This year it
will be held at the Courtyard Room (next to the Library) of the
St. Laurent Complex, 515 - 525 Côté Street, at 7:00 p.m. on
December 3, 2002. Once again, we are fortunate to have Mr. Kent
Kirkpatrick, General Manager of Corporate Services, on hand to
provide an overview and to answer your questions. The next crucial
phase involves committee-by-committee review and debate in
December (Dec. 9 to Dec. 17). Members of the public may provide
written comment or a verbal presentation directly to the standing
committees at this time. Your web site (www.rideau-rockcliffe.com)
will have a list of the meeting times and dates. You may also use
that site to provide your views. I value receiving your ideas as
elected representatives try to establish our City’s fiscal
direction for the next year. I hope that you will be able to join
us on December 3rd next. See you there.
Update on Infrastructure Renewal
All underground works are now complete, with the exception of
Thorold Road, which is to be constructed next year. Phase “A”,
which includes Northcote Place and Hillsdale, Cloverdale & Buena
Vista Roads, should be paved by November 15th . Excavations are
continuing on Phase “B” roads (Hillcrest and Crescent). It is
expected that all main roads will be paved by November 30th.
Driveways and rough grading will follow closely behind the paving
crews.
