Infrastructure Renewal in Rockcliffe
Road, watermain reconstruction and sewer separation works are
underway in parts of Rockcliffe. The works have been undertaken in
two phases.
Phase “A” includes Hillsdale, Cloverdale, Northcote and Buena
Vista (east of Acacia). This work is scheduled to completed to
base course asphalt before winter. Landscaping and finishing works
will be completed next spring.
Phase “B” includes Crescent plus Hillcrest and Thorold (both east
of Springfield). Initially it was expected that this entire phase
would likely begin 2003. Works have progressed well enough to
allow for a portion of this phase to start this fall – i.e.
Hillcrest and that portion of Crescent from Hillcrest to Buena
Vista. Again this portion will be completed to base course asphalt
before winter. The remainder of this phase will most likely only
begin in the spring of 2003. As well, landscaping and finishing
works will be completed in 2003.
At the start of these works, the contractor had requested an
amendment to the hours during which construction activity would be
allowed in order to minimize the time that streets would be
disrupted. I consulted both the community association and the
residents on the affected streets. In the event, the majority were
in favour of having the pain and inconvenience over as soon as
possible so the working hours were extended by one hour at each
end of the day - i.e. from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to
Friday.
