Advisory Committees in the City

Council will shortly create new citizen-based advisory committees. The committees being proposed are an amalgam of those that had previously existed in the various municipalities. Residents of Rockcliffe have a long history of participation on Village committees both advisory to Council and standing committees of Council. You will appreciate the excellent opportunity which such committees present to influence your local government. Also, the new City would benefit from some portion of the extensive human capital resident in the Village. I am appealing to your sense of volunteerism to consider participating in one or the other of the following committees:

  • Environment

  • Youth

  • Equity & Diversity

  • Accessibility

  • French Language Services

  • Mobility Issues

  • Poverty Issues

  • Arts

  • Seniors

  • Parks & Recreation

As well, there will be a number of quasi-judicial committees established. For the urban area the relevant committees are a Committee of Adjustment, a LACAC and a Property Standards Appeal Committee.

I would be pleased to try to answer any questions that you may have.
