Signing of a Historic Agreement
for Crichton School

The City of Ottawa, The School of Dance and the Crichton Cultural Community Centre ("CCCC") invite you to assist the signing of the agreement which will create a unique long-term partnership.

School closings within the urban core have been a concern for City officials. Schools are an important component of community infrastructure. They are not only centers of learning for our children but centers of community life. Loss of such crucial elements inevitably would lead to deteriorating urban core neighbourhoods.

Today's agreement achieves several objectives:

  • It will preserve a historic building which has been the centre of community life since 1906

  • The building will continue to serve the community by providing meeting facilities

  • The building will bring together local artists from many disciplines

  • The building will serve as the new home for the School of Dance.

The agreement will be signed by:

  • Russell Mills, Chairman of the Board - The School of Dance

  • Carol Reesor, Chair of the CCCC

  • Dick Stewart, General Manager, People Services - City of Ottawa

The event will take place at City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. West in the Billings Room at 5:00 PM
